Maruti Suzuki has added another vehicle assembly line at its manufacturing facility in Manesar, Haryana. The new assembly line has the capacity to produce 1 lakh vehicles annually, taking up the total production capacity of the Manesar plant to 9 lakh units annually.

The Manesar facility has three plants – A, B and C – and the latest assembly line has been added to plant A. The first vehicle to roll off the new assembly line is the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV finished in white. The Manesar facility is responsible for producing various Maruti Suzuki models like the Ertiga, XL6, Brezza, Wagon R, Dzire, S Presso, Ciaz and Celerio. Recently, Maruti Suzuki achieved the 3 crore cumulative production milestone and the Manesar facility contributed to 95 lakh units.
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki, said, “Maruti Suzuki is deeply committed to the Government of India’s vision of `Make in India’. We aim to nearly double our capacity to 4 million vehicles per annum over the next 7-8 years and this capacity addition of 100,000 vehicles per year is a step towards this goal. It will help us serve our customers faster and enhance our overall capability to manufacture up to 23.5 lakh units per annum.”
The Manesar facility was inaugurated in 2007 with plant A. The plant B and C were added in 2011 and 2013, respectively, to cater to increasing demand. At the Manesar facility, Maruti Suzuki reached the 10 lakh production milestone in 2011. The 50 lakh production milestone was achieved in 2017. By July 2023, Maruti Suzuki had produced 90 lakh units.

Earlier this year, Maruti Suzuki announced it plans to invest ₹3,200 crore at its facility in Hansalpur, Gujarat to add a fourth assembly plant. This new assembly line is said to produce 2.5 lakh units annually and take up the total annual production tally to 10 lakh units annually.
