Partho Banerjee, Executive Director, Sales and Marketing, Maruti Suzuki said the updated sub-compact SUV is logging around 2,000 bookings a day as Maruti leans on its expanded Kharkhoda plant to keep pace.

Maruti Suzuki's facelifted Brezza has attracted close to 2,000 bookings a day since its launch on 24 July, according to Partho Banerjee, Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, who disclosed the figure in a media interaction. The company is now working to ramp up production to match the response, with supply rather than demand having been the constraint on the outgoing model.

The refreshed Brezza, priced from ₹7.39 lakh to ₹13.71 lakh (ex-showroom), introduced a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine to the line-up alongside the familiar 1.5-litre petrol and factory-fitted CNG options. It retains its boxy silhouette but gets a reworked front end, larger touchscreen, ventilated seats and a head-up display, alongside six airbags as standard and a five-star Bharat NCAP rating.

Banerjee has been candid about the pressures facing Maruti's most recognisable SUV nameplate. With bookings now running at the reported daily pace, that constraint is coming under fresh scrutiny.

The company's response has centred on its Kharkhoda plant in Haryana, which builds the Brezza alongside the Victoris. A second line at the facility, commissioned in May, has lifted capacity there to five lakh units a year, with a third line expected to come online during the current financial year, eventually taking Kharkhoda towards a million units annually. Maruti's total installed capacity across its plants now stands at roughly 26.5 lakh units.

Banerjee has pointed to SUVs now accounting for roughly 30 per cent of Maruti's sales, up from just 12 per cent three years ago, and has set a target of 25-30 per cent SUV sales growth for the current financial year — a goal that leans heavily on the Brezza's performance.

Whether the reported booking numbers translate into sustained retail sales will depend largely on how quickly Kharkhoda's expanded lines can convert orders into deliveries.
