Maruti Suzuki Invicto vs Toyota Innova HyCross: Exterior

The new Maruti Suzuki Invicto looks identical in its design to the Innova HyCross, albeit with a few tweaks to the front, profile, and rear, taking design cues from the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. At the front, the Invicto features the same mesh grille as the GV, separated and surrounded by a chrome bar that connects to the twin LED headlamp setup with LED DRLs. The lower section of the Invicto’s fascia is identical to the HyCross, with a gloss finish to the front bumper, flanked by the foglamp housing, while faux skid plates complete the frontal area of the MPV.

The profile remains identical to the HyCross, apart from the new 17-inch alloy wheels replacing the larger 18-inch wheels on the Toyota. At the back, the Invicto gets its signature three-block motif for the tail lamps, with Suzuki and Invicto badges replacing those of the Toyota and HyCross badges. A generous use of chrome is used on the boot, with Hybrid lettering on the side to complete the styling of the back.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto vs Toyota Innova HyCross: Tech & Interior

Inside, not much has changed from the Innova HyCross, as the Invicto uses the same layout apart from an all-black theme for the interior with gold accents in various areas. The 10.1-inch infotainment system is sourced from Toyota and is compatible with wireless connectivity for Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, as well as wireless charging. A 360-degree view camera, ventilated seats, an 8-way adjustable driver’s seat, auto climate control, a 7-inch all-digital driver’s display, and the island-style centre console are all carried over from the HyCross.

Maruti

What’s missing, though, are a few creature comforts such as auto IRVMs, rear window defogger, and TPMS, which are available on lower variants, but come on only the top-spec version. Moreover, Maruti is offering the Invicto with 6 speakers while the HyCross comes with 9 speakers connected to the JBL sound system.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto vs Toyota Innova HyCross: Second & Third Rows

The biggest difference in the second row of the Invicto is that Maruti is not offering powered Ottoman-style captain seats from the HyCross but instead gets the same kind of seats seen on the XL6. It gets a large panoramic sunroof, while the 8-seater version offers a bench seat in the second row. Maruti is also offering tons of accessories with the Invicto and a lot of it is concentrated for second and third-row passengers such as door sunshades, folding side tables, and air purifiers among others.

Maruti

The third row is ideal for younger passengers, on longer journeys, while adults can soldier on for shorter distances. The Invicto gets a 239-litre boot space that can be expanded up to 690-litre with the third row folded down.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto vs Toyota Innova HyCross: Engine & Transmission

The Maruti Suzuki Invicto is being offered in a single 2.0-litre Electric + Petrol powertrain sourced from the Innova HyCross. This strong hybrid configuration helps develop 182 bhp and 188 Nm of peak torque, coupled to an e-CVT powering the front wheels. This system helps the Invicto return 23.24 kmpl, identical to what the HyCross delivers. It can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 9.5 seconds. The Innova HyCross on the other hand, also comes with a mild-hybrid setup on the same 2.0-litre unit that develops 172 bhp and 205 Nm of peak torque, coupled to a CVT unit.

With more than 50 connected car features, the Invicto also comes equipped with six airbags, ABS, Electronic Parking Brake, Stability Control, and Hill Start Assist as standard. There is no Global NCAP crash test rating for the Invicto yet nor is there one for the Innova HyCross.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto vs Toyota Innova HyCross: Rivals

Apart from its sibling, Toyota Innova HyCross, the Maruti Suzuki Invicto has no rivals. Since the Kia Carnival was discontinued recently, the Invicto only faces a challenge from its spiritual counterpart.

Maruti

In terms of other 3-row SUVs, the Invicto then rivals Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus as well as Tata Safari.
