The Maruti Suzuki Dzire led the charts in May 2025 with 18,084 units sold, registering a strong 12.6% YoY growth over the 16,061 units sold in May 2024. The subcompact sedan also saw a marginal rise from 16,996 units in April 2025, suggesting continued demand, likely bolstered by the model's recent 5-star Bharat NCAP rating.

The Ertiga, Maruti’s popular MPV, recorded 16,140 units in May 2025 — a 16.2% increase YoY from 13,893 units in May 2024. The model also saw a slight uptick over April 2025 (15,780 units), indicating a steady upward trend, possibly supported by demand from both personal and fleet buyers.
Similarly, the Eeco, often used for commercial purposes, sold 12,327 units, up from 10,960 units in May 2024 — a healthy 12.5% YoY rise. It also improved over April 2025’s 11,438 units, underlining the model’s continued relevance in budget utility transport.

The Brezza, Maruti’s subcompact SUV, sold 15,566 units in May 2025 — up from 14,186 units YoY but down from 16,971 units MoM, indicating slight month-on-month moderation. This segment remains intensely competitive, and while Brezza maintains volume strength, maintaining growth may require further feature updates or refreshes.
In contrast, the Grand Vitara, a key player in the compact SUV segment, reported 5,197 units, marking a sharp 46.6% YoY drop from 9,736 units in May 2024 and a 27.4% MoM decline from 7,154 units in April 2025. The decline could be attributed to increasing competition from newer entrants and possibly supply-side adjustments.
The Swift, one of Maruti’s traditionally strong performers, saw a substantial YoY decline of 27%, dropping to 14,135 units from 19,393 units in May 2024. It remained nearly flat month-over-month (MoM) with 14,592 units sold in April 2025, indicating a possible cooling of momentum ahead of the anticipated launch of the new-gen model.

The Wagon R registered 13,949 units, down slightly YoY from 14,492 units, but up from 13,413 units in April 2025. The Fronx, a newer entrant, remained steady with 13,584 units, showing 7.1% YoY growth and a marginal MoM decline from 14,345 units, sustaining its position as a strong crossover offering in the segment.
The Baleno, which was once a segment leader, saw a decline to 11,618 units, compared to 12,842 units in May 2024 and 13,180 units in April 2025. The premium hatchback appears to be losing some steam amid evolving buyer preferences and intense competition.
The Jimny, Maruti’s lifestyle 4x4 SUV, sold 682 units, a notable YoY increase from 274 units, though still modest in volume. Its niche appeal limits mass-market traction, despite an improved MoM figure from 431 units.
The premium Invicto managed just 223 units, up from 193 units YoY, suggesting stable but limited demand in the high-end MPV space. The Ciaz compact sedan dropped to 458 units, down significantly from 730 units YoY but up from 321 units in April 2025, reflecting its shrinking market presence.

The Alto registered 4,970 units, down significantly from 7,675 units YoY, and even lower than 5,606 units in April. Similarly, entry-level hatchbacks like the S-Presso (1,806 units), Celerio (1,861 units), and Ignis (1,855 units) all posted year-on-year declines, underscoring slowing momentum in India’s entry-level car segment as buyer aspirations shift upward.
