Maruti Suzuki has established 45 automated driving test tracks across India till now.

Maruti Suzuki India has signed an agreement with the Tamil Nadu Transport Department to establish 10 automated driving test tracks across the state under its corporate social responsibility initiative.

The automated tracks will be set up in Marthandam, Tirunelveli, Coimbatore (Central), Madurai (North), Tuticorin, Krishnagiri, Dindigul, Tiruvannamalai, Sivagangai, and Trichy (West). The locations were selected based on high volumes of driving licenses issued and connectivity to nearby cities.

The agreement was signed on Monday in the presence of S.S. Sivasankar, Minister for Transport and Electricity, and Dheeraj Kumar, Home Secretary. R Gajalakshmi, Transport and Road Safety Commissioner, and Tarun Agarwal, Senior Vice President, CSR at Maruti Suzuki, signed the memorandum.

The tracks will use video analytics, Radio Frequency Identification, and Harnessing Automobiles for Safety technologies to conduct standardized testing for light motor vehicles and two-wheelers without human intervention.

"I applaud car market leader Maruti Suzuki for its continued commitment to road safety through impactful initiatives across the country. Our government is committed to improving road safety in Tamil Nadu and this collaboration with Maruti Suzuki to establish automated driving license test tracks is a step in that direction. I am confident it will reinforce disciplined driving behaviour and enhance road safety standards across the state," said Sivasankar.

Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki, said, "We are honoured to partner with the Government of Tamil Nadu to introduce Automated Driving Test Tracks in the state. Automated driving license testing ensures a comprehensive, rigorous, transparent, and efficient assessment of a driver's skill and knowledge. Only qualified and skilled applicants receive a driving license through this process. We believe that disciplined driving by these skilled drivers can contribute to safer roads. This initiative is a humble contribution by Maruti Suzuki to strengthen road safety in Tamil Nadu."

Maruti Suzuki has established 45 automated driving test tracks across India, including 17 in Uttar Pradesh, 14 in Delhi, seven in Bihar, four in Uttarakhand, two in Haryana, and one in Jammu and Kashmir. The company signed an agreement in August 2025 to set up 21 such tracks in Rajasthan. With Tamil Nadu's 10 tracks, the total will reach 76 nationwide.

The automaker has also set up eight Institutes of Driving and Traffic Research and 23 Road Safety Knowledge Centres in partnership with state governments.
