The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has completed 25 years in the Indian market and is one of the few models in India that have been on sale for so long. The Wagon R was introduced in India in 1999 and is now in its third generation. Maruti Suzuki has sold more than 32 lakh units of the Wagon R since 1999.
The Wagon R has been quite popular in India and has been in the top two spots for best-selling cars in the country for quite a few years now. The hatchback is also a popular choice in the commercial vehicle segment with many fleet operators opting for the Tour H3 version of the Wagon R.

Maruti Suzuki also mentioned that nearly 44 per cent of the sales of the Wagon R come from first-time car buyers and roughly 25 per cent of the customers are repurchasing a Wagon R. Furthermore, Maruti Suzuki claims the CNG version of the Wagon R has been the highest-selling CNG model in India and it has sold more than 6.6 lakh units of the Wagon R CNG.
The Wagon R is priced between ₹5.55 - 7.21 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and is offered in four trim levels – LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+. The Maruti Suzuki hatchback is offered with three powertrain options – a 1.0-litre petrol, a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a factory-fitted CNG kit with the former.
