The world’s first production geared electric motorcycle, Matter Aera, has now made its way to Bengaluru. The Ahmedabad-based brand has been quite conservative with its debut product, and the Garden City of India is the second market to go on sale. The bike will initially be sold at a special introductory price starting at ₹1.79 lakh (ex-showroom), available for the first 500 units only. Post that, the Matter Aera will set you back by ₹1.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The brand’s debut showroom called “Experience Hub” is located in 2nd Stage, BTM Layout near Vysya Bank. The first 500 customers will also stand to gain a lifetime battery warranty worth ₹15,000 from the dealership. “There’s no better city to lead this journey than Bengaluru, where innovation isn’t just an idea, it’s a way of life. Every lane, every rider here resonates with purpose and progress. The AERA isn’t just a bike—it’s the 22nd Century motorbike. It delivers the thrill of a rocket and the practicality your pocket loves,” said Mohal Lalbhai, Founder and Group CEO of Matter.

The Matter Aera is quite the radical bike in the EV segment at the moment. It’s biggest talking point is the 4-speed gearbox and liquid-cooling system for its 10.5 kW electric motor. Its powered by a 5 kWh battery that is good for 125 km of range on a single charge, and it takes just 2 hours to get fully charged, using a fast charger though. A massive 7-inch touchscreen dashboard allows you to control all different ride modes and support smartphone connectivity for navigation, OTA updates, call/ music, and rider data.
The Matter Aera is available in two variants: Aera 5000 & Aera 5000+. Prices of the latter were not mentioned in the press release sent to us by Matter, but in Gujarat, it is priced at ₹1.84 lakh (ex-showroom). Conventional competitors of the Matter Aera include 150 cc ICE bikes, and the yet-to-launch Ola Roadster motorcycles.
