Dimensity Auto Cockpit allows automakers to design intelligent, immersive experiences for the next generation of smart vehicles.
At Nvidia's GPU Technology Conference (GTC) this week, MediaTek announced the first Dimensity Auto Cockpit systems-on-chip (SoCs) developed from its partnership with Nvidia. The Dimensity Auto Cockpit will allow automakers to design intelligent, immersive experiences for the next generation of smart vehicles.
The new Dimensity CV-1, CM-1, CY-1, and CX-1 chips target in-vehicle experiences ranging from entry-level with the CV-1 to premium with the CX-1.
The Dimensity Auto Cockpit SoCs combine Arm V9-A CPU cores, an HDR image signal processor (ISP), multi-audio DSP, multi-camera support, AI processing capabilities, and integrate an Nvidia RTX GPU. The platform supports Nvidia's DRIVE OS software, which claims to provide safe, rich in-cabin experiences.
Some key features include ray-traced graphics for realistic visuals, AI upscaling and frame generation for smooth performance across multiple displays, video conferencing with AI gaze correction, voice assistants, driver monitoring systems, and hardware-based security. These SoCs also incorporate multi-camera ISPs and audio DSPs to reduce bill-of-materials costs.
The Auto Cockpit forms part of MediaTek's broader Dimensity Auto platform, which spans connectivity with Dimensity Auto Connect, autonomous driving with Dimensity Auto Drive, and components with Dimensity Auto Components.
MediaTek's modular approach could accelerate development cycles by 50% compared to traditional monolithic chip designs. The first devices using the Dimensity Auto Cockpit SoCs will arrive in vehicles by 2025 across entry-level to premium models.
