Mercedes-AMG has launched the new GLC 43 4Matic Coupe in India at ₹1.1 crore (ex-showroom, India). The AMG version of the Mercedes-Benz’s best-selling SUV is only offered as a coupe SUV.
The GLC 43 4Matic Coupe is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid assist and a 9-speed automatic transmission with a wet clutch. The engine churns out a healthy 416 bhp and 500 Nm, and the hybrid assist gives it a boost of 13 bhp and 150 Nm. That engine also comes with an electric exhaust gas turbocharger inspired by the brand’s Formula 1 team. It also comes with an active exhaust system, all-wheel drive, all-wheel disc brakes and rear-wheel steering.
The AMG version doesn’t look very different from the standard GLC but gets some unique touches from Affalterbach. There’s the AMG Panamericana grille, a different front bumper with canards on the edges, a bigger front splitter, 21-inch alloy wheels as standard (20-inches are optional), a lip spoiler, quad exhaust tips and a rear diffuser. The GLC 43 is offered with nine exterior colour options.
The dashboard layout hasn’t changed from the regular GLC, but it now gets carbon-fibre inlays instead of pinstripes. It also gets the AMG-specific steering wheel with two knobs in the middle. It gets the same 11.9-inch vertical infotainment touchscreen but gets an AMG button to change the vehicle’s settings. Also in the features list are the 12.3-inch digital cluster, head-up display, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, cruise control and 360-degree camera. Safety features include 9 airbags, active braking assist, lane keep assist and more.
The AMG GLC 43 4Matic rivals the Porsche Macan, priced between ₹96.05 lakh and ₹1.53 crore (ex-showroom, India).
