Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric: All You Need to Know

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2026 Mercedes CLA, which, unlike its predecessor, is fully electric.

Merc’s Brand New Platform

The CLA Electric, representing the first model on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) platform, boasts a maximum claimed range exceeding 750 km.

Variants

Arriving in India as a spiritual successor to the discontinued A-Class sedan and EQA SUV, the CLA Electric will be available in 200 ‘Standard Range’ and 250+ ‘Long Range’ trims. These are expected to be priced at approximately ₹55 lakh and ₹60 lakh respectively.

Battery & Motor

The 250+ variant is equipped with an 85 kWh battery and a rear-mounted motor generating 268 bhp and 335 Nm. While the CLA 200 trim offers a WLTP range of 542 km, the 250+ reaches up to 792 km. Thanks to its high-voltage architecture, a 20-minute DC fast charge can provide up to 400 km of additional range.

Tech Features

The vehicle features a streamlined profile with star-themed LED lighting and 18-inch wheels. Inside, the dashboard is dominated by a 14-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital cluster. Notably, the Indian version replaces the passenger-side screen found abroad with a decorative star-patterned panel.

Loads of Features

Standard equipment includes a panoramic glass roof, a Burmester audio system, powered front seats with massage functions, and dual-zone climate control. Safety is a priority, with Level 2+ ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and six airbags contributing to its status as a top performer in 2025 Euro NCAP tests.

Rivals in India

The only sedan rival of the Mercedes CLA Electric in India is the BYD Seal, which has surprisingly been decently successful for a relatively unknown brand. But, other EVs such as the Kia EV6 and Tesla Model Y can also be purchased for approximately the same price range.
