The all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA BEV will launch in India on April 24, 2026. Positioned as the new entry point into Mercedes’ EV lineup, the CLA EV brings a ground-up rethink. It is the first model based on the brand’s new MMA skateboard platform, and also debuts an entirely new software-defined architecture, signalling a major shift toward tech-led vehicles.
What really grabs attention, though, is the headline number: a claimed range of up to 792 km (WLTP). Backed by an 85 kWh battery and an ultra-efficient drivetrain, the CLA BEV promises real-world usability that could comfortably exceed 500 km, putting it among the longest-range EVs in its segment.
Under the skin, the India-bound CLA 250+ features a rear-mounted motor producing 268 bhp and 335 Nm, paired with a unique two-speed gearbox designed to balance acceleration and efficiency.
The CLA BEV is also one of the most tech-heavy Mercedes models yet. It becomes the first to feature the new MB.OS, powered by Nvidia hardware, and integrates an AI-based virtual assistant capable of learning driver behaviour and responding using tools like ChatGPT and Gemini. OTA updates, a new charging ecosystem, and Level 2+ ADAS further push it into software-defined territory.

Design-wise, efficiency has clearly shaped form. A slippery 0.21 drag coefficient, flush surfaces and a coupe-like silhouette define the exterior, while inside, a dual-screen layout, AMG Line trim and premium materials underline its luxury positioning.
Fast-charging capability is equally impressive, with the 800V architecture enabling up to 240 kW charging speeds, allowing up to 400 km of range to be added in a claimed 20 minutes.
Expected to be priced between ₹60 lakh and ₹65 lakh, the CLA BEV will compete with electric cars like the BYD Seal in India.
