Just like its ICE predecessors, the new all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQG will continue to be a capable all-terrain vehicle.
Fresh from debuting the new Mercedes-Benz EQG’s promising prowess at the Consumer Electronic Show 2024, the German manufacturer is now slated to bring it to India and will showcase it at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024.
The electric mobility show will take place from February 1-3, and it will see participation from major two-wheeler and four-wheeler manufacturers. Mercedes-Benz will be among them. Alongside the EQG, the German marque will also showcase its upcoming SUVs - the GLA and AMG GLE 53 Coupe 4Matic+.
Coming back to the main showstopper, the Mercedes-Benz EQG will be one of a kind. Although an electric offering, the SUV’s battery will be nestled inside the same robust, old-school ladder frame chassis that underpins the current G-Class.
The EQG will have four electric motors, one near each wheel. All the e-motors can be individually controlled and because of this setup, the Mercedes-Benz EQG can do a full 360-degree turn as demonstrated at the Consumer Electronic Show 2024.
The Mercedes-Benz EQG concept gets a shiftable 2-speed gearbox. More so, it will also get a sophisticated independent front suspension, thereby really nailing its off-road credentials.
Just like the exterior, the interior will also see a significant upgrade with the addition of several storage spaces and a new dashboard layout as well. Unlike the ICE G-wagon, the EQG will be available with a lockable box in place of the traditional spare wheel slot to house the charging cable.
Given that Mercedes-Benz will showcase the EQG at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, there is a high chance that it will also launch the SUV in India. The marque has already confirmed that it will launch nine new cars and SUVs this year. Coupled with the fact Mercedes-Benz’s 55 per cent of sales in 2023 was comprised of SUVs, it seems logical that they would not want to miss out on this trend by not launching the EQG in India.
