In India, we expect Mercedes-Benz India to launch the more powerful AWD version of the EQS SUV.
A week after introducing its most luxurious Maybach EQS in the country, Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch its next EV in the country, and yes, it is an electric SUV. The Indian arm of the German carmaker is introducing the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV in the country on September 16, 2024, expanding its EQ range in India to six EVs which includes the EQS Limousine, EQA, EQB, EQE SUV, and even the Maybach EQS SUV.
Globally, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is offered in trims- EQS 450+ (RWD), EQS 450 4MATIC (AWD), and EQS 580 4MATIC (AWD). All these trims are powered by a 108.4 kWh battery pack coupled to permanently excited synchronous motors that help develop 355 bhp and 568 Nm of peak torque on the EQS 450+, 355 bhp and 800 Nm on the EQS 450 4MATIC and 536 bhp and 858 Nm of peak torque on the 580 4MATIC. In India though, we expect Mercedes-Benz India to launch the more powerful AWD version of the EQS SUV.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV shares its long wheelbase (3210 mm) with the EQS sedan, but is more than 200 mm higher. It measures 5125 mm in length, 1959 mm in width, and 1718 mm in height. The second row of seats can be electrically adjusted as standard. A third row of seats with two additional individual seats and extensive comfort features for all passengers is available as an option. The luggage compartment can be expanded from 645 litres to up to 880 litres with the third row down, and it gets further expanded to a massive 2100 litres.
The front features are combined to create a 'Black Panel' unit. Headlamps are connected by a light band and the deep black radiator grille forms the face. While three light dots form the daytime running light signet on the EQS sedan, there are three small triangles on the EQS SUV. Another special feature is the structured surface of the light modules illuminated from behind: a three-dimensional hexagon pattern in combination with the daytime running lights ensures recognition. The large wheels in dimensions from 20 to 22 inches, together with a muscular shoulder section.
The MBUX Hyperscreen is available as a high-end feature with three screens merging into one to create an impressive screen band over 56 inches. The central and front passenger displays also provide haptic feedback. The 12.3-inch OLED display for the front passenger gives them their own display and control area.
