Mercedes-Benz India has launched the G-Class 400d in the country and it will be made available in two variants – the G400d AMG line and the G400d Adventure. The true blue off-roader will come to India via the CBU route and bookings for it have commenced for an amount of Rs. 1.5 lakh. The company has said that deliveries of the vehicle will commence from Q4 this year and they will be based on exclusive allocations for the Indian market given the strong demand for it.
This time around though, Mercedes-Benz has gone the extra mile by introducing the Adventure edition, which it says is a special edition configured especially for the Indian market.
The India specific ‘Adventure Edition’ is for the off-road enthusiasts says the company and some of the highlights include roof rack with C profile rails, removable ladder at the rear with anti-slip coating, logo projector in the outside mirror, roof luggage rack, Manufaktur logo package and more.
There are lot of additions on the inside as well. It gets a multifunction steering wheel covered in Nappa leather. There’s a full-size spare wheel as well.
The key highlights of the G 400d AMG Line are a sporty multi-functional steering wheel, multibeam LED headlamps, and sporty stainless steel spare wheel cover. 20-inch wheels are standard and you get an underguard in silver and there’s also ambient lighting in 64 colours.
The G 400d’s OM656 is the most powerful diesel engine in the history of Mercedes-Benz. It is the most powerful in-line six-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 326 bhp and peak torque of 700 Nm at 1200 to 3200 rpm. The engine features NANOSLIDE cylinder barrels used by Mercedes-Benz in Formula 1- with ideal lubrication, reduced friction, and highly wear-resistant, thanks to hard contact surfaces with extremely fine pores for oil absorption.
