Mercedes-Benz India Reports Strong Pre-Orders for Electric GLC Ahead of Debut

Mercedes-Benz India received over 650 Expressions of Interest within 36 hours for the locally manufactured Electric GLC, ahead of its November 4 debut and mid-November customer deliveries.

Mercedes-Benz India has recorded significant pre-launch demand for the upcoming all-new Electric GLC, securing over 650 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) within 36 hours of opening reservations on October 5, 2026. The luxury electric SUV is scheduled to make its official Indian market debut on November 4, 2026, with customer deliveries slated to commence from mid-November onwards. 

Registrations remain open across all authorised Mercedes-Benz franchise partners and the brand's official website as allocations move into the next production batch.   Local Production and ArchitectureThe Electric GLC, specifically in the GLC 400 4MATIC specification, will be locally manufactured at the company's assembly facility located in Chakan, near Pune.

Representing the first locally produced Mercedes-Benz SUV built on the company's next-generation electric vehicle platform, the model marks a key milestone in the automaker's long-term assembly strategy in India. The local manufacturing footprint at Chakan follows an overall investment exceeding ₹3,000 crore, making it one of the largest installed production capacities for a luxury vehicle manufacturer in the country.   

The strong customer uptake reflects a broader evolution among Indian luxury automobile buyers toward sustainable electric mobility without sacrificing performance, technology, or day-to-day practicality. The vehicle's introduction coincides with global celebrations marking 140 years of innovation for Mercedes-Benz since Carl Benz filed the original automobile patent. 

Customers who have submitted EOIs will receive regular status updates regarding order progress and tentative delivery timelines directly through Mercedes-Benz India's direct-to-customer retail network.
