The brand’s electric vehicles (BEV) have registered strong acceptance with 3-times the growth compared to 2022.
Along the sidelines of the Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift launch, the marque also announced its sales performance for the year 2023. Mercedes-Benz India claims that 2023 was its “Best Year Ever” in terms of sales since it began production in India nearly 30 years ago.
In 2023, Mercedes-Benz registered a healthy 10 per cent growth in sales with 17,408 cars delivered. Furthermore, its newly introduced electric vehicles (EVs) have also registered robust growth, growing 3 times compared to 2022 and contributing to 4 per cent of the total sales.

Furthermore, Mercedes-Benz witnessed 55 per cent more demand for its SUVs, while the rest of the demand is for sedans. The brand also witnessed some structural changes in the luxury automotive segment, wherein now nearly 14 per cent of its customers come from salaried backgrounds, and 15 per cent of its total customer base are women. Tier-II and Tier-III cities have also emerged as potential markets for the brand.
In comparison, its contemporary major German manufacturer Audi India also registered its best-ever sales in India since 2015. In 2023, Audi India registered a staggering 89 per cent growth in sales with 7,931 cars.
High sales for the brand came on the back of several new launches last year. Audi India launched the Q3 Sportback, Q8 e-tron, and Q8 Sportback e-tron, along with limited editions of the Q8, Q5 and S5. Whereas, Mercedes-Benz launched 10 new cars in 2023 which include models like the Mercedes-AMG E 53 4Matic+ Cabriolet, GLC, GLE facelift, AMG C 43, AMG GT 63 S E Performance, AMG SL Roadster, etc.
