Mercedes-Benz has introduced the new GLS facelift. The update includes changes to engines and technology. On the engines front, the GLS 580 4MATIC now produces 530 bhp and 750 Nm of torque. This marks an increase from the previous 510 bhp and 730 Nm. The V8 engine includes a flat-plane crankshaft. The GLS 450 4MATIC has 560 Nm torque, up 12 per cent. Diesel models GLS 350d and 450d 4MATIC add an electric heated catalyst. All engines pair with a 48-volt system and integrated starter generator.

Technology updates cover suspension and displays. Cloud-based damper control with AIRMATIC adjusts before bumps. The MBUX Superscreen spans three 12.3-inch displays. Rear passengers receive 11.6-inch screens and remote controls. Sensors include ten cameras, five radars and twelve ultrasonics. MB.OS supercomputer enables over-the-air updates. The upright Mercedes-Benz star appears on the bonnet.
India awaits the new GLS facelift launch. Mercedes-Benz plans 12 product actions in 2026, including facelifts. Local production of Maybach GLS started in Pune this year. This makes India the first market outside the US for that model. The standard GLS sells from ₹1.32 crore.

The GLS has performed well in India. Mercedes-Benz retailed 4,238 units in Q1 FY26, up 10 per cent year-on-year. Top-end vehicles, which include GLS, grew 11 per cent in 2025. The company sold 19,007 units overall that year. Revenue hit a record despite a 2.85 per cent volume drop. The core segment contributed 62 per cent of sales. India ranks in Mercedes-Benz's top five global markets for Maybach.
