The S-Class facelift will debut the S450e plug-in hybrid variant in India as well.
Mercedes-Benz is set to launch the 2026 S-Class facelift on 15 June in India, introducing significant design updates and a new electronic architecture to its flagship sedan. Notably, the refresh marks the Indian debut of the manufacturer's first non AMG plug-in hybrid model, the S450e, which will be sold alongside traditional petrol and diesel variants.
The headline S450e variant features EQ Hybrid technology, combining a 3.0-litre turbo petrol inline six engine with an electric motor. This setup produces a combined 435 bhp and utilises a 22 kWh battery, offering an electric only range of up to 100 km under ideal conditions. While it is rear wheel drive only due to the battery packaging, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.7 seconds.
In contrast, the standard S450 petrol, equipped with a 48V mild hybrid system, produces 404 bhp but features the 4Matic all wheel drive system, allowing for a quicker 0 to 100 kmph sprint of 4.9 seconds. The S 350d diesel variant continues with a 3.0-litre unit delivering 330 bhp and 650 Nm of torque.

The exterior of the facelifted flagship is dominated by a 20% larger front grille, which now features an illuminated frame and small chrome stars embedded in the slats. The signature three pointed star on the bonnet is also illuminated, while the enlarged headlamps utilise advanced micro LED Digital Light technology. These units provide 40% more brightness while being more energy efficient. At the rear, the sedan adopts slimmer tail lamps that incorporate three pointed star LED motifs.
Technological upgrades include an enhanced ADAS suite supported by a comprehensive sensor array consisting of 10 cameras, five radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. Visual updates are rounded off by new 50 spoke high pressure cast wheels and an expanded palette of paint shades sourced from the premium Manufaktur range.
