MG Motor India has announced that its upcoming MG Comet EV will be launched in India this year, with deliveries to begin soon. We know this because the company has commenced the production of the EV at its Halol plant in Gujarat, with the first car rolling out this week. Although unconfirmed, it is expected that the company will price the upcoming MG Comet EV under the Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom) bracket. The upcoming MG Comet joins the company's EV range, which includes the MG ZS EV.
Globally, the MG Comet EV is offered a range of battery options, including a 44.5 kWh battery with a claimed range of 240 km on a single charge, and a larger 52.5 kWh battery with a claimed range of 320 km. MG is positioning the Comet EV as an affordable electric offering, with a focus on safety and technology. The vehicle will come equipped with features like six airbags, a panoramic sunroof, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In terms of charging infrastructure, MG Motor has partnered with Tata Power to install 50 kW DC fast chargers at its dealerships across India. The company is also offering a home charging solution for Comet customers, with a 7.4 kW AC charger that can charge the vehicle in 6-8 hours.
Overall, the MG Comet is expected to be a strong competitor in India's fast-growing electric vehicle market, which has seen a surge in demand over the past few years. With its long-range, fast charging capabilities, and competitive pricing, the MG Comet EV could appeal to a wide range of customers looking to make the switch to electric.
