The latest design patent from Kinetic Green seems to suggest so.
Kinetic Green did usher in some nostalgia last year by launching the e-Luna. While the all-electric moped read well on paper, it was not a typical family-centric offering. For that, the brand required something more premium and family-oriented, and this is where its latest design patent has sparked quite the conversation. With looks that are exactly like the Kinetic-Honda DX from the 80s and 90s, Kinetic Green’s reportedly second yet-to-be all-electric offering might just be the next big thing from the company.
Right from its squarish design down to details, like the small fly screen above the headlights and that fin style on the rear panel – a homage to the original brand could not get more special than this. There are a few upgrades here though, wherein the electric scooters sport a telescopic fork instead of the trailing link suspension at the front. And it seems to be available with a single-channel ABS as well.
Kinetic has been eyeing the highly competitive electric scooter segment in the country for quite some time. If we take into account the ones who are leading in this space — TVS, Bajaj, Ola and Ather dominate the segment with their family electric scooters. So, if Kinetic’s upcoming electric scooter benchmarks against these options, then we can expect some decent, usable performance on offer here.
It should also be noted here that Kinetic’s the design looks nothing like the test mule that we had spotted exclusively last year. The latter featured a more sporty design with a headlight mounted at the centre of the front apron. It had curvy panels, a sharp fascia, but was riding on the same 12-inch alloy wheels. The scooter seemed to have been built around an underbone chassis, and just like the patent image here, sported telescopic fork and twin rear shocks.
Either way, Kinetic’s upcoming electric scooter will be its most expensive offering in India. Currently, the e-Luna holds this title in the brand’s portfolio by retailing at ₹69,990 to ₹82,490 (ex-showroom).
