MG launched its new MG IM vehicle range, featuring the IM5 executive saloon and IM6 SUV, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. These new models represent MG's focus on advanced electric driving performance and technology. The "IM" in the name stands for Intelligence in Motion.
David Allison, Head of Product and Planning for MG, stated that the company aims to deliver technology leadership and innovation with the MG IM range. He also mentioned that MG has made electric vehicle ownership accessible and exciting.
The MG IM5 Long Range offers a driving range of up to 710 km on a single charge with a 100 kWh battery option. This battery uses an 800V architecture and can charge from 10% to 80% in 17 minutes. The MG IM5 accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 3.2 seconds, and the MG IM6 achieves 0-100 kmph in 3.5 seconds.
MG IM models come with a host of features, including Rainy Night Mode and 4-mode One Touch Park Assist. This parking assist system uses the car’s 360-degree cameras and autonomous driving capabilities. For urban driving, the MG IM5 has a bi-directional rear-wheel turning technology, which reduces its turning circle to 9.98 meters. The Momenta assisted driving system supports safe and comfortable driving.
The cabin's central feature is a 26.3-inch infotainment display , supported by a 10.5-inch touchscreen. All cars have a panoramic roof and a 20-speaker audio system with four in-ceiling Sky Speakers. Double-layer laminated windows are used for cabin refinement.
MG is introducing six models in its UK market , with choices of 75kWh and 100kWh batteries, as well as single and dual motor options. The IM5 range starts at £39,450 (approx. ₹45 lakh) for the Standard 75 kWh version.
The MG Cyberster Black was also showcased. This model features a black finish with glass particles and an all-black interior. Additionally, the MG Cyber X concept, an all-electric urban vehicle with a matte grey finish, was unveiled. The MG EX4, a modern version of the Metro 6R4 rally car using an electric drivetrain, also returned to the event.
