JSW MG Motor India has expanded the Windsor EV portfolio with the launch of a larger battery pack variant in the form of the Windsor EV Pro at ₹17.50 lakh lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the first 8000 bookings which starts on May 8, 2025. Under the Battery as a Service (BaaS) model, the MG Windsor EV Pro can be purchased for ₹12.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India) plus battery rental at ₹4.5/km. The new Windsor EV Pro is based on the top-spec Essence variant, and will be called as Essence Pro.
Variants | Price under BaaS Model | Price With Battery |
---|---|---|
Excite | ₹10 lakh | ₹14 lakh |
Exclusive | ₹11 lakh | ₹15.05 lakh |
Essence | ₹12 lakh | ₹16.15 lakh |
Essence Pro | ₹12.50 lakh (New) | ₹17.50 lakh (New) |
This new variant marks the most significant update to the model since its launch in September 2024. The MG Windsor Pro will be sold alongside the MG Windsor with the smaller battery pack.
The MG Windsor EV Pro comes with a larger, 52.9 kWh battery pack that punches out 134 bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque (same as the 38 kWh variant), with a claimed range of 449 km on a single charge, along with a front-wheel-drive setup. With a 60 kW DC fast charger, it can be juiced from 20 to 80 per cent in 50 mins while a 7.4 kW AC slow charger does the same in 9 hours 50 minutes.
In terms of equipment, the Windsor Pro gains a few key upgrades such as the addition of an ADAS suite, offering advanced driver assistance features, and new vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities—technologies typically seen in more premium EVs.
As a variant of the existing Windsor EV, the new Windsor EV Pro doesn’t bring major exterior changes, maintaining the familiar silhouette and styling of the current model. The only notable visual update is a fresh set of 18-inch alloy wheels, which bear a strong resemblance to those seen on the MG Hector SUV. Signature elements like the split headlight design, connected LED lightbars at both ends, retractable flush door handles, and the MPV-meets-hatchback form factor remain unchanged. Additionally, the Windsor EV Pro introduces three new exterior colour options—Celadon Blue, Glaze Red, and Aurora Silver.
However, it's on the inside that the Windsor EV Pro makes a clearer statement. A new beige interior theme now replaces the all-black scheme of the standard model. This change extends to the seats, roof lining, front armrest, and pillar trims—giving the cabin a lighter, more premium feel.
In terms of functionality, the larger battery pack in the Pro variant offers extended range but comes with a trade-off: reduced boot capacity. Luggage space drops slightly to 579 litres, down from 604 litres in the standard Windsor. However, the catch here is that boot space of Excite & Exclusive variant is 604L, while the Essence and Essence Pro have 579L of boot.
