The Windsor EV Pro is the long range version of the MG Windsor EV and is priced at ₹17.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
JSW MG Motor India has launched the longer-range version of the Windsor EV, called the Windsor EV Pro. It gets a 52.9 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 449 km, while the standard Windsor EV gets a 38 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 332 km. The Windsor EV Pro is priced at ₹17.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India), which puts it squarely in contention with the Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6 and Hyundai Creta Electric. Let’s take a look at how it fares against its rivals on paper.

All of the electric SUVs here – Windsor EV Pro, Curvv EV, BE 6 and Creta Electric – get a permanent magnet synchronous motor but the BE 6 is the only one to have its electric motor powering the rear wheels. The Windsor EV Pro makes the least amount of power (except the 42 kWh variants of the Creta Electric) and the least torque too. Both the 59 kWh and 79 kWh variants of the BE 6 have the maximum power and torque on offer.
The Windsor EV Pro’s 52.9 kWh battery pack sits in the middle of the pack. Both the BE 6’s battery packs are the largest in the competition, while Creta Electric’s are the smallest. Even the claimed range of the Windsor EV Pro sits in the middle of the pack. Even the BE 6’s smaller battery has a claimed range higher than all the others in the competition.

The Creta Electric’s standard AC charger is the fastest of the lot, while it also has a higher output (11 kW). The BE 6 also has the option to get an 11.2 kW AC charger which charges the 59 kWh and 79 kWh batteries from 10-100 per cent in 6 and 8 hours, respectively. The BE 6 has the highest DC charging support with the 59 kWh battery getting 140 kW and 79 kWh battery getting 180 kW support. Despite the Windsor EV Pro, Curvv EV and Creta Electric getting different DC charging support, the charging times will roughly be the same.

The BE 6 is the longest and widest electric SUV in this comparison, being 31 mm longer than the Creta Electric. It is also 57 mm wider than the Windsor Pro. The Windsor EV Pro is the tallest of the lot, being 22 mm taller than the Creta Electric. While the BE 6’s wheelbase is 75 mm longer, if that translates into more cabin space will only depend on how the two cars are packaged. We’ll test this out in a head-to-head comparison between the four electric SUVs soon. Hyundai doesn’t give out ground clearance and boot space figures. The Windsor EV Pro has the largest boot, while the BE 6 has the highest ground clearance and both lead their respective runners up with huge margins.

Price (ex-showroom, India) | ₹17.50 lakh ₹12.50 lakh (BaaS Model) | ₹17.49 - 21.99 lakh | ₹18.90 - 26.90 lakh | ₹17.99 - 24.38 lakh |
In a way, the Windsor EV Pro is the most affordable option in this comparison as despite being the cheapest here, it has quite a lot of features on offer. It comes in a single fully-loaded variant, while the comparable fully-loaded versions of the other three easily breach the ₹20 lakh mark. At least on paper, the Windsor Pro makes the most sense, price-wise.
