Last month, MG Motor introduced the Windsor Inspire Edition, unveiled by Nitin Gadkari to commemorate Windsor’s milestone of 40,000 units.
The Windsor EV has turned out to be a true winner for MG Motor India. First launched in September last year, the Windsor was the first product to come out of the new joint venture between MG Motor India and Jindal Steel Works that came into existence in early 2024. Now, the Windsor has become the fastest growing electric car in the country.
MG has dispatched a record 50,000 units of the electric crossover in just 400 days since its launch, making it the fastest battery-powered car to achieve this milestone in India. This proves that the Windsor EV has resonated with a large section of buyers looking for a fully-electric vehicle.
Speaking on this occasion, Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India said, “When we launched the Windsor EV, our mission was simple yet ambitious: to offer a mobility solution that is practical, stylish, and value-driven—while accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in India. The Windsor EV’s rapid success, achieving 50,000 sales in record time, marks a landmark moment in India’s EV journey and demonstrates that customers are embracing this transition with enthusiasm.”
The MG Windsor is available with two battery pack options. The first is a 38kWh battery pack version that offers a range of 331km on a full charge. The next is the recently launched Windsor Pro, which comes with a 52.9kWh battery pack that offers a range of 449km on a full charge. Regardless of which version one chooses, the Windsor EV’s electric motor makes 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque.
Inside, the Windsor EV gets a massive 15.6-inch infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and a host of other features including a digital instrument cluster, keyless entry, automatic climate control, cruise control, and more. In terms of safety, the Windsor EV gets six airbags as standard, along with a reversing camera, parking sensors, ABS with EBD, 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake, hill hold, and more.
Prices for the MG Windsor EV starts at ₹9.99 lakh under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) with a battery rental scheme of ₹3.9 per kilometre. Whereas for those willing to purchase the Windsor EV along with the battery, prices start at ₹12.65 lakh and go up to ₹18.39 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
