JSW MG Motor India is gearing up for the launch of its highly anticipated electric vehicle, the Windsor EV, with the official debut set for September 11. Positioned as an electric crossover, the Windsor EV is expected to slot between the entry-level Comet EV and the more premium ZS EV in MG’s electric vehicle lineup. One of the key highlights of the Windsor EV is a full-width panoramic glass roof. This large glass panel spans the entire cabin width, promising to flood the interior with natural light, offering a more spacious feel akin to premium EVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Interestingly, this feature is not available on its international counterpart, the Wuling Cloud EV.

The Windsor EV is based on the Wuling Cloud EV, but MG has made several stylistic and functional upgrades for the Indian version. Expect connected lighting elements, aerodynamic alloys, and distinctive LED lights. Though MG hasn’t revealed the dashboard yet, some interior details have emerged, particularly regarding rear-seat comfort. The backseat can recline up to 135 degrees, offering one of the best reclining angles in the mass-market segment, enhancing long-ride comfort. The cabin will sport a black colour theme with gold accents, with quilted leatherette upholstery further elevating the premium feel.
The Windsor EV is expected to feature a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, paired with an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display. Other notable features include multi-colour ambient lighting, powered front seats, automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, and more.
On the safety front, the Windsor EV is likely to include up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera. Additionally, MG is expected to incorporate Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which is becoming increasingly common in mid-range and premium electric vehicles.
The Wuling Cloud EV, on which the Windsor EV is based, offers two battery options internationally: a 50.6 kWh pack delivering 132 bhp with a claimed range of 460 km (under China’s CLTC cycle) and a smaller 37.9 kWh pack with a 360 km range. It remains unclear which battery MG will introduce in India, but the range figures could differ under Indian testing standards like ARAI or MIDC.
MG is expected to launch the Windsor EV at an ex-showroom price starting around ₹20 lakh, making it a direct competitor to the Tata Nexon.ev, Mahindra XUV400, and even the lower variants of the upcoming Tata Curvv.ev.
