Michelin India has revealed a new range of fuel-efficient tyres for trucks and buses. Called the Michelin X Multi Energy Z+, it is made in India and is designed specifically for Indian road conditions.
An evolution of the Michelin X Multi Energy Z range that was introduced in 2020, the new range of tyres is claimed to have the lowest rolling resistance in the market resulting in a claimed fuel savings of up to 15 per cent. Furthermore, the tubeless tyres are available in a 295/80R22.5 specification and Michelin India says it reduces the CO2 emissions by 8 tons but this claim is based on tests keeping in mind a 14-wheeler truck with an average monthly running of 8,000 km.
Shantanu Deshpande, Managing Director, Michelin India, said, “The MICHELIN X Multi Energy Z+ addresses the major issue of high fuel costs in logistics, which contribute up to 60% of the operating expenses of Indian fleet owners, by providing excellent fuel efficiency and lowering their overall costs.”
The X Multi Energy Z+ has a maximum speed rating of 120 kmph and a load capacity of 3,750 kg. The overall diameter of the tyre is 1041 mm, its section width is 286 mm and a tread depth of 14 mm. Michelin recommends a rim width of 209.5 x 571.5 mm.
