MINI has revealed two one-off concept vehicles created in partnership with Australian lifestyle brand Deus Ex Machina - The Skeg and The Machina. The vehicles showcase contrasting approaches to performance and design philosophy.
Powertrains and Performance
The collaboration features two distinct powertrain configurations: 'The Skeg', an electric MINI JCW producing up to 258 bhp, and 'The Machina', a petrol-powered JCW delivering 170 kW 231 bhp. Both vehicles are based on the MINI John Cooper Works platform.

Heritage-Inspired Design
The exterior design pays homage to MINI's motorsport legacy through expressive graphics featuring numbers, geometric elements and vibrant colours. Both cars feature a distinctive large white 'X' on the roof, symbolising the collaboration between the two brands.

'The Skeg' sports a vivid yellow and silver finish with semi-transparent fibreglass panels that reduce weight by 15% whilst improving aerodynamics. The design draws inspiration from surfboard construction, including a rear spoiler that mimics the concave underside of a surfboard and tension straps referencing surf culture.
'The Machina' features red, white and black paintwork with classic widened fenders and four additional rally-style headlights mounted on the bonnet. The rear diffuser takes inspiration from MINI's Nürburgring race cars, whilst a Can-Am-style spoiler adds motorsport nostalgia.
Interior Details
Both interiors embrace a 'raw, handcrafted approach' with visible seams, striking switches and traditional levers emphasising their mechanical character. 'The Skeg' features neoprene upholstery in lightweight racing bucket seats and fibreglass trays for wetsuits, creating a mobile surf shop aesthetic.

'The Machina's cabin maintains the red, white and black palette with five-point racing harnesses, raw aluminium floor plates, and an exposed roll cage. Toggle switches replace complex electronic menus, emphasising direct mechanical connections.
The vehicles made their world debut at the exclusive MINI JCW x DEUS Night on September 6 during IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich. “In this extraordinary collaboration, we showcase two vehicles that remind us of motorsport history and successes of MINI. Every single detail has been crafted with artisanal precision and expertise. This has resulted in unique characters that are clearly perceived as belonging together through their distinctive design language and use of graphics," concluded Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design.
