The test mule was already spotted being tested earlier this month.
It’s been just a month since the world’s first CNG motorcycle, the Bajaj Freedom 125, was launched in India. We had already confirmed at the time of launch that Bajaj would work on more variants of the same, and soon after, we also spotted another CNG motorcycle being tested. Putting all those speculations to rest, Bajaj’s CEO, Rajiv Bajaj, has now confirmed to an Indian publication that the brand’s second CNG bike will launch soon, and in all probability, by the end of this fiscal.
According to the spied image we obtained earlier this month, Bajaj’s upcoming CNG motorcycle will be a simpler, no-frills alternative to the Freedom 125.
The body design will be minimal, with the same supermoto-styled seats, and a conventional telescopic fork and mono shock will suspend the trellis architecture. But unlike the Freedom 125, which is available with an LED headlight, the upcoming CNG bike will have a halogen bulb. Feature-wise too, the bike is expected to have a relatively more straightforward semi-digital instrument cluster with no Bluetooth connectivity or a USB charging socket.
Mechanically, though, the engine will remain the same 125 cc, bi-fuel compatible with the same 9.5 bhp and 9.7 Nm tune.
The launch confirmation from Rajiv Bajaj comes behind some pretty impressive sales. Rajiv Bajaj confirmed that the Freedom 125 is well to achieving 40,000 monthly sales by January 2025.
With August almost nearing completion, the Chakan-based manufacturer is on its way to achieving 8,000-9,000 dispatches this month, which gives the manufacturer much-needed confidence to push for its clean energy vehicle portfolio. Moreover, Rajiv Bajaj also confidently boasted that this portfolio is well on its way to crossing the one-lakh monthly sale mark with the Freedom 125 by this festive season.
