It seems like a family focused budget offering to target the hotly contested segment of e-scooters.
Hero has filed a patent for a new e-scooter under its electric sub-brand Vida, which could be a game-changer for the budget-conscious consumer. While details are still pretty much unknown, the design hints at a family-friendly electric scooter with a focus on practicality and affordability.
The leaked images suggest a larger scooter compared to the petite and sporty Vida V1. This could translate to ample under-seat storage, a crucial convenience feature for family buyers. The flat, wide seat, a common theme in recent family scooter space, further strengthens this theory. The design seems to strike a balance between fanciness and practicality. The front apron has a sporty look with creases, while the centrally mounted headlight (likely LED) and handlebar-mounted turn indicators offer a contemporary feel.
The new scooter is likely to be built upon the Vida V1 platform. This suggests potential similarities like the V1's 3.94 kWh battery pack (real-world range of 110 km) and the 6kW electric motor delivering 25 Nm torque. As shown in the patent image, the telescopic fork is making way for a cantilever suspension to save up on costs. Also, Hero might just kit this e-scooter with 12-inch wheels for a less sporty and more conservative riding approach.
This new Vida electric scooter is likely targeted towards families. This could mean a no-frills approach with a basic LCD display. Bluetooth connectivity might be present but with limited functionalities. This focus on essential features would significantly bring down dramatically. Currently, the price of the V1 Pro is ₹ 1.26 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
With focus on affordability and practicality, the Vida could make a compelling option for many buyers who are looking for a comfortable and electric mode of transportation from Hero.
