The Moto G04 is a basic entry-level smartphone with a few interesting selling points.
Shortly after bringing its low-cost Moto G24 to India, Motorola has launched the even more affordable Moto G04 here. This entry-level smartphone costs Rs. 6,999 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and there’s also an 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant priced at Rs. 7,499. Introductory offers include an exchange bonus and cashback or discounts for specific banks’ and mobile operators’ customers, potentially bringing prices down even lower. The device will go on sale through Flipkart as well as Motorola’s own website and authorised dealers starting from February 22.
Motorola touts the new Moto G04’s design, display, and cameras as its main features. The camera bump is moulded and contoured into the rear panel, and buyers will have a choice of four colours - Concord Black, Sea Green, Sunrise Orange, and Satin Blue, each with the same matte polymer finish. The company claims this device is IP52 rated and “water-repellent”. It weighs 179g and is 7.99mm thick.
The new smartphone’s display is a 6.56-inch LCD panel with a 720x1612-pixel resolution and 90Hz peak refresh rate and embedded front-facing camera. Motorola has gone with the low-end Unisoc T606 processor. The battery capacity is 5000mAh and this phone supports 15W charging. The Moto G04 has a single 16-megapixel f/2.2 rear camera and an LED flash. It can record video at up to 1080p 30fps. The front camera has a 5-megapixel resolution.
There’s a single speaker with Dolby Atmos sound enhancement, and a 3.5mm audio socket. You also get a side-monuted fingerprint sensor, a dedicated microSD card slot in addition to two nano-SIM slots, Bluetooth 5, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and GPS. The Moto G04 ships with Android 14 and Motorola’s MyUX customisations, but interestingly the company specifies that buyers will not get any future updates other than security patches for two years.
