Dorna’s Carmelo Ezpeleta was in Lucknow for the Ground Breaking Ceremony 2024
On the back of a particularly successful first outing in India, MotoGP boss Carmelo Ezpeleta lauded the Uttar Pradesh government for putting on a great race. Ezpeleta, chief of the promoter company Dorna that runs MotoGP, was one of the international dignitaries who attended the UP Ground Breaking Ceremony 2024 event held in Lucknow on February 20. The GBC is part of the Uttar Pradesh government’s ‘Invest UP’ initiative to promote and invest in doing business in the state.

He said, “India, and particularly Uttar Pradesh, has demonstrated encouraging enthusiasm in organizing the first ever MotoGP and making it a Global Event. The promptness shown by the UP government, especially CM Yogi Adityanath, has Instilled confidence in us for long term association.”
The Bharat GP had its fair share of issues but nearly all of them were done and dusted come race weekend. In fact, the riders were pretty stoked about the circuit layout and put on a great spectacle. In fact, the 2023 race created almost over 12,000 jobs over the weekend and generated business worth nearly Rs 934 crore.
And the numbers are only bound to rise in 2024. The racing circus is slated to return to the country on September 20-22 with the season kicking off on March 8-10.
