Additionally, the MV Agusta Superveloce will undergo development, and the new model might launch next year.
Recently, in an interview with a foreign publication, MV Agusta CEO Hubert Trukenpolz confirmed that the Varese-based manufacturer is working on a new three-cylinder engine. While exact details about this new powertrain are still under wraps, the bossman has indicated that the new engine will debut with either the Brutale or Dragster range of naked sport motorcycles.
MV Agusta’s Brutale range consists of five motorcycles, including the 798 cc R and RR models and the 1000 cc engine models, including the 1000RS, 1000RR, and the 1000RR ‘Assen’ Edition. On the other hand, the Dragster range comprises three models: the RC, RR SCS, and RC SCS.
The development of a new engine shouldn’t come as a surprise, for MV Agusta recently received fresh investment after Pierer Mobility bought a 50.1 per cent stake in the company. At the time of the takeover, the owners of the KTM, Husqvarna, and GASGAS brands had already committed to making the Italian two-wheeler manufacturer financially stable and improving its manufacturing process and product line-up. However, Trukenpolz also clarified that renewing the Brutale and Dragster models will require a lot of time and investment. Therefore, receding these new models will be a new iteration of the MV Agusta Super Veloce, which will be “a very important bike for us and for next year.”
Beyond that, MV Agusta, however, has confirmed that the brand is content with the current lot of three-cylinder and four-cylinder engines. From this statement, we can deduce that the MV Agusta might introduce a reworked iteration of its 798 cc mill, with slightly more capacity and compliant with the stricter anti-pollution emission norms in Europe.
