Samsung has unveiled its much-anticipated AI-powered extended reality headset, Project Moohan, at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The device, developed in partnership with Google, is Samsung's entry into the XR market and will pioneer the new Android XR platform, which is intended for both headsets and glasses.
Samsung has not revealed technical specifications, pricing, or additional details about the device, which is expected to reach consumers within 2026.
The over-head device, and its name "Moohan" translates to "infinity" in Korean, features a comprehensive design similar to Apple's Vision Pro. It boasts wide-field displays designed to deliver deeply immersive experiences. According to Samsung, users will be able to navigate using Google Maps, view sports events with expanded perspectives, and use Gemini AI for travel planning assistance.
Samsung emphasised that Project Moohan will combine "multimodal AI with advanced XR capabilities," describing it as a "ground-breaking device" that represents a meaningful advancement towards "more context-aware and personalised experiences."
While hands-on interaction with the device was prohibited at the event, according to a report, attendees were able to observe the first physical models of Project Moohan, which had previously only been shown in digital renders.
The headset features four front-facing cameras and capacitive control strips positioned along the stems.
