New variants of the X440 and Mavrick 440 are expected also
It has been close to two years since we witnessed the first product from the Hero-Harley platform: the X440. And now, we might see a completely new motorcycle on the same platform bearing the American brand’s motif.
While the X440’s mimics the American brand’s roadster heritage, we think that tapping into Harley’s cruiser lineage wholeheartedly will pay dividends. In the past financial year, only 10,515 X440s were sold, and Hero also managed a mere 3448 units of the Mavrick 440. In the same time period, Triumph sold nearly thrice the amount of bikes, and the same goes for Honda’s CB350s.
Hence, a thoroughbred cruiser that appeals to the Indian consumers’ demands would prove to be beneficial. Also, the X440’s build quality and fitment levels would need to be improved.

On the Hero side of things, the Mavrick 440 will be getting the Combat treatment, like the Xoom 110 and Karizma XMR 210. Hence, the retro roadster will get a special grey colour scheme, USD fork and a few extra goodies.
Hopefully, this should help Hero and Harley-Davidson increase its presence in the country.
