Moreover, the Bajaj Chetak is also slated to receive a new battery pack that will be denser and help deliver more range.
Recently, in an interview, the CEO of Bajaj Auto, Rajiv Bajaj confirmed that it is working on a new platform that will underpin its sole electric two-wheeler offering, the Chetak. The Bajaj Chetak with this new platform will be launched in the next financial year, i.e. 2025-26, added the CEO.
This news revelation came shortly after we reported that Bajaj Auto was also working on updating the battery pack that powers the Chetak. The brand will change the supplier from whom it's sourcing its battery. The new battery pack will have a higher energy density, which should also help improve range, which will be one of the major highlights of the upcoming Chetak.

Interestingly, Bajaj launched the limited edition Chetak 3201, which has the same 3.2 kWh battery as the top-spec Chetak Premium. However, the Chetak 3201 has a range of 136 km, while the Chetak Premium has a range of 126 km. Thus, the Chakan-based manufacturer might have already equipped this upcoming battery pack with the new 3201.
On the other end of the spectrum, Chetak's sales have picked up despite a slow start. Rajiv Bajaj stated that the Chetak now holds 18 per cent of the market share in the electric scooter segment, thus almost neck-to-neck with the TVS iQube, one of its prime rivals. One of the key reasons for the success is the affordability of the electric scooter as new variants have brought the price down. Another aspect is the wide dealership network of the Chetak electric scooter thereby improving its reach.
