The iconic Ducati Monster gets a new powerplant, design overhaul and loses some heft.
With a few weeks remaining for EICMA 2025 to commence, Ducati has taken wraps off the new Ducati Monster. The updated bike gets a design overhaul, new engine and is lighter than its predecessor. The Ducati Monster is the most important bike for the Italian brand as it had safeguarded it from going bankrupt in the early 1990s and ever since has been the bread and butter offering for the iconic marquee. So when Ducati launches a new Monster, it’s a special occasion so let’s see what’s new on the performance street naked.

First up is the styling, when the Monster ditched the iconic trekliss frame and went for a slimmer profile, Ducatisti across the globe were up in arms and the Italian brand has taken note of thor displeasure. The tank on the new bike is much larger bringing back the iconic curves of the bike and headlight too has been redesigned with a new DRL. The tail section is slimmer with rounded exhaust mufflers and the bike retains the iconic monster silhouette loved by millions.
The other big change is the transformation of its heart as the 2026 Monster ditches the 937cc L-Twin for the new 890 cc, liquid-cooled V-twin engine. This motor delivers 109.4 bhp and 91 Nm of torque, compared to older engine power and torque figures are marginally down. The bike features a 6-speed transmission with a bi-directional quickshifter. Since the new V-twin engine doesn’t feature desmodromic valves, service interval for valve clearance check has also risen to 45,000 km. The new aluminum frame is directly bolted onto the cylinder heads and the 2026 Ducati Monster also features a double-sided swingarm inspired from the new Panigale V4. All the above has helped the new Monster shed 4 kg compared to its predecessor with a dry weight of 175 kg.
On the electronic aids front nothing much has changed as the new Monster gets 4 riding modes, multiple level traction control, wheelie control, EBC and cornering ABS. All the above can be controlled via a 5-inch TFT screen which is larger than the older unit and there’s also turn-by-turn navigation. The 2026 Ducati Monster is expected to make its India debut by mid-2026 and could retail for close to ₹14 lakh (ex-showroom).
