The new-gen Kia Seltos is expected to come with a strong hybrid petrol engine option for the first time.
The second generation Kia Seltos will officially break covers today. The compact C-segment SUV was an instant success ever since it was first launched in India back in August 2019. Test mules of the new Kia Seltos have been spotted on numerous occasions over the past few months. The company has also shared multiple teasers of the same over the past one week on its social media handles. Ahead of its official debut, let us look at what to expect from the new-gen Kia Seltos.
Recent sightings have suggested that the upcoming iteration of Kia Seltos seems visibly bigger and boxier than the current model. The updated SUV is expected to receive a complete design overhaul inspired by Kia’s evolving global styling cues. UAt the front, the model features a wider and more imposing chrome-finished Tiger Nose grille, positioned below the updated Kia logo. The lighting elements receive a significant upgrade, with slim vertical DRLs and headlamps seamlessly integrated into the outer edges of the grille, incorporating C-shaped and horizontal LED signatures.

Along the sides, the vehicle presents a more premium appearance with silver roof rails, flush-mounted door handles, a distinctive window-line kink, and pronounced wheel-arch cladding. At the rear, the new-generation Kia Seltos adopts a clean, minimalist design highlighted by a reprofiled bumper, a sleek connected taillight bar, and a silver-finished faux skid plate.
Spy shots of the new Kia Seltos’ cabin have indicated a complete overhaul of the interior layout. The new Seltos is expected to boast a tech-focused, minimalist cabin drawing inspiration from the Syros and EV9. It may incorporate a triple-screen layout, including two 12.3-inch displays and a 5-inch touchscreen dedicated to climate controls.

Additional features likely to be included are dual-zone climate control with rear vents, wireless charging, an electric boss mode similar to the Creta, and electrically adjustable ventilated seats. For the first time, Kia will introduce a panoramic sunroof and LED welcome animations on the Seltos.
Under the hood, the next-generation Kia Seltos is expected to continue with the current range of engines, including the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre diesel, and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol units, while also introducing a new hybrid variant to the lineup. Reports indicate that an e-AWD version may be offered in select international markets, although it is unlikely to be introduced in India.
Transmission options are expected to remain largely unchanged, with the naturally aspirated petrol paired with a 6-speed manual or CVT, the turbo-petrol available with a 6-speed iMT or 7-speed DCT, and the diesel offered with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.
