Unlike the original Tata Sierra that came with a three-door layout, the new Sierra comes in a more traditional three-door layout.
Tata Motors has finally pulled off the covers from the all-new Sierra. The nameplate is making a return after almost 28 years. A concept of the new generation Tata Sierra made its first public appearance at the 2023 Auto Expo followed by a more evolved prototype of the same at the Expo earlier this year.
The reincarnated Tata Sierra has now broken covers in its full glory ahead of its official launch and price unveil slated for November 25. Bookings for the SUV will most probably begin on the same day.
While the new Sierra carries forward select design cues from the 1990s original—such as its boxy silhouette and flat roofline—it now adopts a more conventional five-door layout instead of the earlier three-door design. At the front, a flat fascia features a modern all-LED lighting setup with sleek headlamps linked by full-width light bars. A chunky bumper with a faux skid plate and squared, thickly cladded wheel arches further enhance its SUV character.

The side profile stands out with dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels, tall pillars, flush door handles, blacked-out ORVMs and functional roof rails. At the rear, the connected LED theme continues, complemented by a slightly curved windshield, a flat tailgate and a faux silver skid plate integrated into the bumper.
Tata Motors has previously previewed the new Sierra’s cabin that comes with extensive use of recycled materials. It showcases a large panoramic sunroof and the signature ‘infinite window’ design that lends the interior a more open, airy feel. The standout element is its triple-screen dashboard layout— a first for any Tata model—featuring a fully digital instrument cluster, a central touchscreen infotainment system, and a dedicated co-passenger display.

The production-spec Sierra is also expected to offer features such as ventilated front seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charger, a 12-speaker JBL audio system, dual-zone climate control, and multi-colour ambient lighting. Safety equipment is likely to include multiple airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a Level-2 ADAS suite
The new-gen Tata Sierra will be available in both combustion engine and fully electric derivatives, the former will go on sale first. Engine options include a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine borrowed from the Harrier and Safari, along with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol mill. The 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine puts out 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque.

The new 1.5-litre NA petrol unit, expected to be offered in the entry-level variants, is likely to produce around 120 horses and 140 Nm of torque. On other hand, the new 1.5-litre turbo petrol mill is expected to churn out 168 bhp and 280 Nm. Transmission options will most likely include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, depending on the choice of powertrain.
