Without an iota of doubt, the new-generation Tata Sierra is one of the biggest and most anticipated passenger vehicle launches from Tata Motors this decade. The SUV made its official debut in its final production-spec avatar earlier this month. Ahead of its launch tomorrow, here’s a quick rundown of what to expect from the all-new Tata Sierra.
The 2026 Sierra retains a few iconic design cues from the original 1990s model, such as its boxy stance and flat roofline, but has transitioned to a more practical five-door configuration in place of the earlier three-door layout. At the front, it sports a clean, flat fascia equipped with a contemporary all-LED lighting setup, including sleek headlamps connected by a full-width light bar. A robust bumper with a faux skid plate and prominent, square-shaped cladded wheel arches reinforce its SUV persona.

Buyers will also get dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels, upright pillars, flush-fitting door handles, blacked-out ORVMs, and functional roof rails. At the rear, the connected LED signature continues, paired with a mildly curved windshield, a flat tailgate, and a faux silver skid plate neatly integrated into the bumper. There will be six colour options on offer at the time of launch namely Bengal Rouge (Red), Andaman Adventure (Yellow), Mintal Grey, Pristine White, Coorg Clouds (Silver/Light Grey), and Munnar Mist (Green/Grey).
Tata Motors has already offered a glimpse of the new Sierra’s interior, which extensively incorporates recycled materials. The cabin features a large panoramic sunroof, and a signature ‘infinite window’ design, giving it a noticeably open and airy feel. Its most striking highlight is the triple-screen dashboard layout—a first for any Tata vehicle—comprising a fully digital instrument cluster, a central touchscreen infotainment unit and a dedicated display for the co-passenger. That said, this feature will most likely be reserved for the top-spec variant only.

The production-spec Sierra is expected to come equipped with ventilated front seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charging pad, a 12-speaker JBL audio system, dual-zone climate control, and multicolour ambient lighting. On the safety front, it is likely to offer multiple airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), 360-degree cameras, front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a Level 2 ADAS suite.
The new-generation Tata Sierra will be offered in both internal combustion and fully electric versions, with the ICE variants set to arrive first. The engine lineup will include the familiar 2.0-litre turbo-diesel from the Harrier and Safari, alongside a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol unit. The 2.0-litre diesel produces 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque.

The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine—likely to power the entry-level variants—is expected to deliver around 120 bhp and 140 Nm. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol mill is anticipated to generate 168 bhp and 280 Nm. Depending on the engine, transmission options are expected to include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque-converter automatic, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Tata Motors will announce the prices of the new Sierra on the day of its launch. ACKO Drive previously reported that dealers in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and even New Delhi have started accepting bookings for the Sierra with a refundable booking amount ranging from ₹11,000-21,000.

In all likelihood, Tata will slot the upcoming Sierra between the Curvv and Harrier, so it is most likely to be priced starting at around ₹12 lakh and going up to ₹20 lakh (both ex-showroom). The new Tata Sierra will be broadly categorised into four trim levels: Smart. Pure, Adventure, and Fearless.
