Honda has hinted that the new Amaze will be built on a modified version of the platform used by the Honda City.
Honda Cars India has officially announced the launch of its highly anticipated next-generation Amaze on December 4, 2024. The updated subcompact sedan is expected to bring a host of design and feature upgrades aimed at revitalising its standing in the competitive subcompact sedan market, where it faces off against models like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor.
Honda has hinted that the new Amaze will be built on a modified version of the platform used by the Honda City, which could enhance its structural strength and stability. The model will retain its sub-four-metre length, allowing it to benefit from tax incentives that apply to compact vehicles in India. On the exterior, the new Amaze will sport a redesigned front and rear, refreshed headlamps and tail lamps, and newly styled alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the new Amaze is expected to adopt design elements from the latest Honda City, including an upgraded interior theme and an enhanced infotainment experience with a larger touchscreen display. These changes suggest that Honda is focusing on improving both the aesthetic appeal and user experience of the Amaze’s interior, potentially giving it a competitive edge in the segment.
Under the hood, the next-generation Amaze will continue with its existing 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine, which delivers 89 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. The engine will be available with a choice between a 5-speed manual transmission and a CVT (continuously variable transmission). Notably, the Amaze will remain a petrol-only model, similar to its previous versions. There's still no word on a CNG alternative.
