The Sierra EV will be the first electric iteration of the iconic Tata Sierra nameplate. Here’s what to expect from it.

Tata Motors will officially expand its electric vehicle portfolio with the launch of the Sierra EV on June 30, 2026. The electric SUV will sit precisely between the Curvv EV coupe-SUV and the flagship Harrier EV in Tata’s lineup.

Ahead of its official debut, the carmaker has given us a complete look at its exterior design. The combustion engine model's functional, blacked-out grille has been completely replaced by a smooth, body-coloured blanked-off panel, and the lower front bumper features a premium gloss-black finish paired with a prominent faux silver skid plate on the chin.

The only major differentiators from the side and back are the specific 'Sierra.ev' chrome badges stamped onto the front door skins and the rear tailgate, as even the rugged 19-inch alloy wheels remain unchanged. Tata is also expected to launch the EV with exclusive body shades, such as a sleek new signature silver colourway.

While Tata has kept the interior images under wraps, the premium layout is expected to closely echo its twin. To position it as a tech-forward flagship, higher trims of the Sierra EV are slated to receive an advanced triple-screen dashboard setup. This layout will most likely feature a 10.25-inch digital driver's instrument cluster, a massive 12.3-inch central touchscreen infotainment unit, and a dedicated 12.3-inch secondary entertainment screen for the front passenger.

Lower-spec variants will likely adopt a standard dual-screen configuration supplemented by a crisp head-up display. Other creature comforts will include an expansive panoramic glass sunroof, electronic multi-way adjustable front seats with ventilation, a premium multi-speaker audio system, and customisable drive modes.

Under the skin, the Sierra EV is heavily related to the upcoming Harrier EV, being underpinned by the brand's highly modular and safe acti.ev+ architecture. The SUV is expected to carry over the Harrier EV's dual-battery options, consisting of a baseline 65 kWh pack and a long-range 75 kWh pack. The top-tier variants will come standard with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration, while base specifications will adopt a rear-wheel-drive layout.

In terms of market placement, it is anticipated to carry an aggressive introductory ex-showroom price tag falling in the ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh ballpark. Upon its arrival, the SUV will enter an increasingly competitive mid-size electric segment, going head-to-head with SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Mahindra BE 6, and the MG ZS EV.
