Kia India has relaunched its flagship multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), the Carnival, at ₹63.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India) available in a single, fully loaded Limousine+ variant. The reintroduction of the Carnival marks the arrival of the new-generation model, which has been on sale globally. Although this is not the facelifted version, the MPV boasts a major overhaul in its design and features over its predecessor, positioning itself as a premium offering in the Indian market.
The new Kia Carnival presents a bold and modern design, marked by significant changes that set it apart from the previous generation. The front fascia is dominated by a large grille, framed by vertically aligned headlamps and inverted L-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The front bumper houses twin LED fog lamps on either side, and also integrates the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) module, which is a highlight of this new model.
The Carnival comes with 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, enhancing the overall stance of the MPV. One of the functional design elements includes sliding rear doors that provide easy access to both the second and third-row seating. A chrome accent runs along the rear section, connected by a trim piece that wraps around the back, while the connected taillamps align the Carnival’s design with other models in Kia’s lineup.
Kia is offering the new Carnival in two exterior colour options: Fusion Black and Glacier White Pearl, both adding a premium touch to its appearance.
Inside, the Carnival has undergone a significant upgrade in both technology and comfort. The cabin now features two 12.3-inch screens — one for the infotainment system and the other for the virtual instrument cluster. Both are enclosed within a single housing, creating a streamlined and futuristic dashboard. Ambient lighting runs beneath the air-conditioning vents, while a touch panel for HVAC controls and media functions adds to the modern feel of the cabin.
One of the standout features in the Carnival's cabin is the rotary drive selector positioned in the centre console, replacing the traditional gear lever. The MPV is equipped with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera, a powered tailgate, power sliding rear doors, and power-adjustable heated and ventilated seats for both the front and rear passengers.
For added convenience, the new Carnival also includes features like a head-up display, a Bose-tuned audio system, wireless charging, auto wipers, 64-color ambient lighting, three-zone climate control, and dual sunroofs. The level of attention to passenger comfort is further highlighted by the Ottoman-style reclining second-row Captain’s seats, which are equipped with aeroplane-style headrests.
Kia has placed a strong emphasis on safety in the new Carnival. The MPV comes equipped with eight airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Importantly, the Carnival includes three-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats, reinforcing its focus on passenger safety.
In addition, the Carnival now offers level 2 ADAS technology with 23 features that include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. These advanced safety features further enhance the Carnival’s position as a premium, family-oriented vehicle in the MPV segment.
Under the hood, the Kia Carnival is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine, which delivers 190 bhp of power and 441 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. This combination is designed to provide smooth and efficient performance, suitable for long-distance travel as well as city driving.
Dimensionally, the Carnival measures 5,155 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width, and 1,775 mm in height, with a substantial wheelbase of 3,090 mm. These measurements translate to a spacious interior, offering ample legroom and headroom for all three rows of seating. The Carnival is currently available only in a seven-seater configuration, with Captain’s seats in the second row and a bench for three passengers in the third row.
