A new electric scooter, similar to the recently patented Kinetic Honda DX, was recently spotted being tested in Mumbai. It boasted the same retro design with a squarish headlamp unit, an iconic style of the scooter from the 90s. While it looked production-ready, its launch date is still under wraps. Here’s what makes this test mule so relevant in the Indian electric mobility scene.

What Stands Out The Most?

The Kinetic DX spotted here stays true to the original design. Right from the front apron design down to the rear panels — the overall aesthetic looks more like an evolution of the OG Kinetic Honda DX, rather than a completely different model altogether. We have seen Bajaj do it quite successfully with the Chetak and hoping that this is the same for Kinetic as well.

The Kinetic DX spotted has retained aesthetics which are very similar to original design of the KiHo DX.

Therefore, it will be comfortable and spacious enough to accommodate two family members. The scooter also looked wide and flat. As for its underpinnings, it seems like it will ride on standard 12-inch wheels with a front disc brake, a telescopic fork up front, and dual rear shock absorbers. It will have a hub motor, hopefully with reasonable performance capabilities. The battery will most likely be placed in the under-seat storage area, but we can’t confirm the same at the moment.

Competition

While we can’t ascertain the pricing point of the scooter yet, we expect it to be a premium affair

But given this will be Kinetic Watts And Volts’ first family electric scooter offering in India, its competition will include some well-established models like the Ather Rizta, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and the range of Ola S1 scooters. All of which are priced around the ₹1 lakh mark, so, maybe the Kinetic DX might be priced in the same range as well.
