The new Maruti Suzuki Swift rekindles its rivalry with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Tata Tiago.
Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the fourth generation of the Swift in India on May 9, 2024, which was globally unveiled last year bringing a host of changes not just to its aesthetics but also its mechanics. While you can read all about the new Maruti Suzuki Swift here, this article focuses on the expected price of the new Swift as it rekindles its rivalry with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, and the Tata Tiago along with its sibling, Maruti Suzuki Baleno.

We expect the new Maruti Suzuki Swift to continue with the same variants as earlier- LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi Plus variants as well as a new VXi (O). Since the Swift will receive several key updates to both its externals and its internals, we anticipate a substantial price hike over the outgoing model. While the older Swift retailed between ₹6.25- ₹9.28 lakh (ex-showroom, India), expect the new Swift to now retail between ₹6.55- ₹9.65 lakh (ex-showroom, India), for its single petrol engine offering.
Variants | New Swift MT | New Swift AT |
---|---|---|
LXi | ₹6.55 lakh | NA |
VXi | ₹7.45 lakh | ₹8.10 lakh |
VXi (O) | ₹7.85 lakh | ₹8.30 lakh |
ZXi | ₹8.40 lakh | ₹8.93 lakh |
ZXi Plus | ₹8.90 lakh | ₹9.65 lakh |
Now, the logic behind the above-mentioned prices, is that over the years, Maruti Suzuki India has increased the prices by ₹50,000 on the corresponding trims over the outgoing models. Hence, we anticipate Maruti Suzuki to follow the same strategy this time around as well, and keep the prices extremely aggressive.
The upcoming Swift will come in both manual and AMT versions, just like the outgoing model but employs a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech that develops 80 bhp and 112 Nm of peak torque.
Compared to its rivals, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is priced between ₹5.92 - ₹8.56 lakh (ex-showroom, India), available with a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine coupled to either a manual or an AMT unit. The Tata Tiago on the other hand, retails between ₹5.65- ₹7.85 lakh (ex-showroom, India), making it the most affordable in the segment. All three cars are available in a factory-fitted CNG version as well.
