The Range Rover Electric Prototype has been revealed to build on the anticipation of launch.
Land Rover recently unveiled the first images of its Range Rover Electric prototype, providing a glimpse into the brand's foray into electric vehicles. The prototype was spotted undergoing rigorous testing on frozen lakes in Sweden.
While specifics about the Range Rover Electric remain under wraps, the images depict an all-black prototype bearing a striking resemblance to its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart. Initial testing efforts have primarily focused on evaluating the capabilities of the battery and Electric Drive Unit (EDU), which encompasses critical components such as the transmission, electric motor, and power electronics.

One noteworthy feature of the electric Range Rover is the introduction of a new traction control system. This system delegates wheel slip management tasks directly to each electric drive control unit, significantly reducing torque reaction time from 100 milliseconds to an impressive 1 millisecond. Such advancements are expected to enhance traction on challenging surfaces like ice or low-grip terrains.

While a definitive debut date for the Range Rover Electric has yet to be confirmed, Land Rover has hinted at ongoing testing across different climates, including high-temperature regions in the Middle East. With expectations of a launch by late 2024 or early 2025, anticipation for the arrival of the Range Rover Electric continues to build.
