During the global unveiling of the XC90 facelift, Volvo Cars also teased an upcoming all-electric model. The Swedish marque said the ES90 electric sedan is “coming soon” but didn’t mention when. Volvo’s flagship electric sedan will make its debut in March 2025.

The ES90 is likely to be an all-electric version of the S90 sedan as it has a similar silhouette to the luxury sedan. The teaser shows the same greenhouse as the S90 but apart from that, not much is visible in the teaser. Another image shared on Volvo’s website shows the S90 will get chunky ORVMs that will also house sensors and lenses for the 360-degree camera.
Mechanical details about the ES90 EV remain scant but it is likely to get single- and dual-motor variants like the EX90. The latter is likely to come with an all-wheel drive layout. Furthermore, it remains to be seen which battery pack Volvo will fit in the upcoming ES90 but it could be the same as the EX90, a 111 kWh battery pack with around 600 km of range.

Once it makes its debut, the ES90 will compete with the likes of the BMW i5, Mercedes-Benz EQE and the recently revealed Audi A6 e-tron.
