Nissan Motor India sold 8,346 vehicles in June 2026, with domestic wholesales rising sharply to 3,006 units.

Nissan Motor India reported a 129 per cent year-on-year increase in domestic wholesales to 3,006 units in June 2026, marking its fourth consecutive month of domestic growth as the Japanese carmaker works to rebuild momentum in the Indian passenger vehicle market. Total wholesales rose 16 per cent year on year to 8,346 units, supported by 5,340 units shipped to export markets.

Exports continued to account for the larger share of Nissan India’s monthly volumes, contributing nearly 64 per cent of June wholesales. That mix underlines the dual role of India in Nissan’s strategy: a market where the company is attempting to regain domestic relevance, and a manufacturing base for overseas demand. Nissan has previously said the India-made Magnite is exported to more than 65 global right-hand-drive and left-hand-drive markets, reinforcing the importance of the Chennai manufacturing ecosystem in its wider regional plans.

Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said four consecutive months of domestic sales growth reflected “growing customer confidence” in the company’s product portfolio and the “steady progress” of its market strategy. He credited dealer partners and on-ground teams for strengthening Nissan’s reach across India, adding that demand for the New Nissan Magnite and the all-new Nissan Gravite had supported the current retail momentum.

The June numbers are significant because Nissan’s India business has, in recent years, relied heavily on the Magnite as its principal volume product. The addition of the Gravite has given the company another domestic-facing model aimed at family buyers, while also broadening showroom appeal beyond the compact SUV space. Nissan launched the Gravite in February 2026 as the first product under its renewed product offensive and has positioned it around local manufacturing, modular seating and accessibility in Tier I and Tier II markets.

The next major step is the Nissan Tekton, which is set for its world premiere on July 9, 2026. Nissan has described the Tekton as a C-SUV and the second product under its “One Car, One World” strategy, with manufacturing planned in partnership with Renault at the Chennai plant for India and select export markets. The company has also said the SUV’s design draws inspiration from the Nissan Patrol, giving it a stronger global SUV linkage than Nissan’s recent India products.

For Nissan, the Tekton will arrive in one of India’s most competitive SUV segments, where established rivals have strong dealer reach, high feature expectations and aggressive pricing strategies. Sustained domestic growth from the Magnite and Gravite gives the company a better base before that launch, but the challenge remains scale.
