Nissan Pixo Electric Hatchback For Europe To Be Unveiled On September 23

Nissan has dropped the teaser for the upcoming Pixo electric hatchback, set to be unveiled later this month on September 23, 2026. The upcoming Nissan Pixo will see the automaker revive the nameplate for the new city car, while the model will be positioned under the Micra in the automaker’s lineup. Think of it as a Tata Tiago EV-sized offering for the European market. However, the new Pixo will be based on the Renault Twingo EV, as part of the alliance partnership with the French automaker.

The latest teaser for the Nissan Pixo promises it will, “bring a fresh, fun character to the compact EV segment.” While the proportions should be identical to the Twingo, expect the design language to be entirely different, and on the same lines as the newer Nissan cars.

There are no details shared on the powertrain, but expect the Nissan Pixo to get the same front-mounted electric motor as the Twingo. The unit produces about 80 bhp and draws power from a 27.5 kWh battery pack with a range of 250 km (claimed) on a single charge.

The Pixo nameplate may be alien to Indian car buyers, but it does have an Indian connection. The name was previously used on the made-in-India Maruti Suzuki A-Star, which was rebadged as the Pixo in Europe between 2009 and 2013.  

The revival, however, will see the new Pixo, borrow cues from Nissan’s Pike retro cars of the 1980s, while prices are expected to start around £17,000 (approx. ₹22 lakh) in Europe, making it one of the more accessible electric offerings on sale. With respect to Nissan’s EV lineup, the upcoming Pixo will be the most affordable offering, followed by the Micra, Leaf, and the larger Ariya.

Nissan has no plans to bring the Pixo to the Indian market, while its EV strategy overall remains in the far future. Instead, the automaker is concentrating in finding a foothold with newer products such as the Gravite and Tekton. It also has the new 7-seater SUV coming to the market sometime next year.
