The upcoming Nissan Tekton is based on an all-new platform and will get new engine options, sharing its underpinnings with the Renault Duster.
Nissan India has confirmed the global premiere of the new Tekton compact SUV is scheduled for July 9, 2026. The new Nissan Tekton is the automaker’s all-new SUV for the Indian market, and shares its underpinnings with the new-generation Renault Duster currently on sale. The Tekton will step into the same space once occupied by the Terrano in the automaker’s lineup, but is built on a completely new platform and will get all-new engine options.

The Nissan Tekton was originally slated for debut on February 6, 2026, but the date was pushed along with the Nissan Gravite’s arrival. While the latter has been launched, the automaker is now gearing up for the Tekton, its most important product for the year. The Tekton is an all-new offering from the manufacturer in years and pushes it in a highly competitive category dominated by the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and more.
The Nissan Tekton will have a completely different design language, inspired by the larger Nissan Patrol. The Tekton looks more butch with the massive grille, a full-width LED DRL, and muscular haunches on the bonnet. The teaser hints at generous use of chrome on the grille and bumper for an upmarket look. The taillight gets a connected element, along with C-shaped highlights, and a butch-looking bumper. The Tekton is expected to carry over several identical bits from the new Renault Duster including a high ground clearance (212 mm on Duster), and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The cabin remains under wraps and Nissan has promised a different direction compared to what we’ve seen on the Duster so far. That said, we expect some of the features to be identical including the panoramic sunroof, digital instrument cluster, Google-based infotainment system, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation, and more. Nissan has the opportunity to offer a comfier second row, which is a shortcoming on the Duster, while still offering a decent boot capacity (518 litres on Duster). An electric tailgate is also likely.
Engine options are likely to include the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, 1.3-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.8-litre hybrid, shared with the new Duster. We drove the Duster 1.3 earlier this year and came back impressed with the performance. We expect something identical with the new Tekton as well. The turbo-petrol engines should be available at the launch, while the hybrid will join the lineup later. Speaking of which, the new Tekton is expected to arrive around the onset of the festive season later in the year.
