Nissan Tekton Teased Once Again Ahead of July 9 Debut, Reveals Patrol-Inspired Design

Nissan is gearing up to introduce the Tekton SUV in India on July 9, 2026, and the automaker has dropped a new teaser revealing more details about the upcoming offering. Dubbed as ‘Baby Patrol’, the upcoming Nissan Tekton is said to be heavily inspired by the brand’s flagship SUV, sharing several design elements including the grille, headlamps, and more. The new Tekton will share its underpinnings with the latest-generation Renault Duster and will be made at the Renault’s manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu.

The latest teaser reveals the massive grille divided by the red horizontal bar in the middle with the illuminated Nissan logo in the centre. You can also see the full-width LED DRLs extending into the LED headlamps with L-shaped LEDs. There are muscular haunches on the bonnet with the hood scoop in the centre, as well as the ‘Tekton’ badging.

Previous images have revealed a boxy profile on the Tekton, which will remain identical to the Patrol, and give the SUV a rugged stance. The rear is expected to get angular styling as well with connected lights, in-keeping with the latest trends. Other elements we expect to see include 18-inch alloy wheels, squared-off wheel arches, functional roof rails, a roof spoiler, and more.

The cabin remains under wraps on the Tekton with no teaser images yet. The SUV is expected to borrow cues from the new Renault Duster but could go an entirely different route in putting itself together. That said, we expect to see dual screens for the digital cluster and infotainment screen, dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, a gear selector, and more. On the feature front, the Tekton is expected to be loaded with creature comforts such as a panoramic sunroof, leatherette upholstery, a premium sound system, a 360-degree camera, six airbags with ABS, EBD, ESC, TPMS, as well as Level 2 ADAS.

Powertrain options are likely to include the 1.0-litre turbocharged and 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engines, shared with the Duster. The former produces 99 bhp and 166 Nm of peak torque, while the latter develops 161 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque. It’ll be interesting to see if the Nissan Tekton will have a 1.0-litre automatic transmission at the launch, which is missing on the Duster. Meanwhile, the 1.3 turbo should get a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT at the launch itself. Nissan could also introduce the 1.8-litre hybrid engine slated to arrive on the Duster later in the year.

The Tekton is an extremely important model for Nissan India and crucial for its success in the country. Prices should be competitive starting around the ₹10 lakh mark, going up to ₹18 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tekton will be competing in a highly contested space with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota UC Hyryder, Tata Sierra, and more.
